Candy Castle History!
Early Years…
In 1925, Mabel Maples, a 20 year old ambitious girl started making choco creams in
her basement in Dublin, Ireland. The delicious chocolate candy was a hit from the
beginning! Mabel was so fond of the chocolate goodness that it took up most of her life
and her career in which she quit her job at “Buttons and Pins”, a local threading store
by her home to fulfill chocolate making. Then in 1933, her candy was so big she
bought a building to start selling her creation.
In 1935 to Mabel's surprise she had her first child Emmaline Rose. Throughtout life
Emmaline exceled in everything she did. 2 years after Emmaline was born,
Mabel had her second child, Charles Nicholas. Years went by and now Emmaline was
five, and Charles was three, but now there was two new additions to the family when
Carmen Elizabeth and Lillian Paige were born. Mabel was so pleased because she had
the family she wanted and a job she loved.
In 1968 Mabel got very ill, and so she handed her company off to her only
daughter Emmaline, who was now 33 and a new mother with twins, Sarabeth
and Chapen. Mabel sadly dies eight years later after a longstruggle of Alzheimer’s,
at the age of 71, so Emmaline moves to Rome, Italy to keep selling what her
mom first created. Emmaline went through a hard time of trying to restart her
mother's first creation, and hopefully to finish it. Chocolate was a hard business in
Italy in the year of 1976. Emmaline had to really push for people to take a
taste of her chocolate wonders.
New creations….
In the year of 1986 Emmaline realized that she could not run her future
company on just Choco creams. She knew that people would want to start tasting
new flavors and new creations. As Emmaline was strolling through Italy on a hot
summer night, she got the idea of a candy that would have everything and would
send a river of chocolate goodness into your mouth the moment you bit into it.
She remembered something her mom tried to make years back but couldn't.
Then it hit her, what her mother started creating years ago, “Overflow”, and
Emmaline didn’t think that the people would ever get enough of it. After she started
selling the Overflow, business was really picking up and there were more and more
demands for her company.
Much more candy was created a year later as people could not stop eating.
Here and there you saw people eating The peanut Pisa ,The Boot,
Caramel Venice, The overflow and our first candy the Choco
creams.
Sad times in the making...
In 2000, Emmaline handed off the company to her twin daughters, Sarabeth and
Chapen before dying from pneumonia at th eage of 65. After the girls mourned for a while they decided to start up the company again. They thought to make more and more candy, somethign they knew both their grandmother and their mother would be proud of.
Candy overrule…
In the year of 2006, Candy Castle becomes the biggest candy seller in all of Italy.
All of the other businesses were facing bankrupt as everyone wanted candy, and
only Candy Castle candy. Candy Castle was beginning to overrule Italy with its
magically delicious sweetness. More recent candies were produced this year
including nutty bites, the bubble boat, and our sour tower. Candy Castle will
remain the royal spot as Candy creators of the century!
